El género "Urginea Steinh." (Hyacinthaceae) en la flora ibérica
1997
Some data on taxa of Urginea Steinh. (Hyacinthaceae) found in the Iberian flora are reported. The combination Urginea undulata subsp. caeculi (Pau) M.B. Crespo & Mateo comb. nov., is proposed for the Spanish populations of the species, and that name is also typified. Moreover, a key is presented for identification of taxa.
Steiner Loops of Affine Type
2020
Steiner loops of affine type are associated to arbitrary Steiner triple systems. They behave to elementary abelian 3-groups as arbitrary Steiner Triple Systems behave to affine geometries over GF(3). We investigate algebraic and geometric properties of these loops often in connection to configurations. Steiner loops of affine type, as extensions of normal subloops by factor loops, are studied. We prove that the multiplication group of every Steiner loop of affine type with n elements is contained in the alternating group An and we give conditions for those loops having An as their multiplication groups (and hence for the loops being simple).

Modulation of immune responses of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Insecta: Coleoptera) induced by the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema carpocapsae (N…

Aim of this study was to investigate relationships between the red palm weevil (RPW) Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) and the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema carpocapsae (EPN); particularly, the work was focused on the immune response of the insect host in naive larvae and after infection with the EPN. Two main immunological processes have been addressed: the activity and modulation of host prophenoloxidase-phenoloxidase (proPO) system, involved in melanization of not-self and hemocytes recognition processes responsible for not-self encapsulation. Moreover, immune depressive and immune evasive strategies of the parasite have been investigated. Our results suggest that RPW possess a…

Narrare con il COVID19. Storie di qualità per i bambini della prima infanzia

This contribution aims to offer a reflection on storytelling in early childhood. It plays a fundamental role in training and development of the person, especially as far as emotion is concerned, as it constitutes an attempt to translate part of one's inner world into words, thanks to the aid of a literary genre that allows one to represent and socialize it in culturally defined ways. The training process is always peculiarly narrative: one tells and everyone expresses himself; the training process is intrinsically relational and in this very relationality the negotiation of one's self with that of others is an element of vital importance. In this sense, storytelling can be considered valid …

The entomopathogenic nematode-bacterium complex of Steinernema-Xenorhabdus has high potential as lethal biological control agent against many insect pest species. The Red Palm Weevil (RPW) Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is an important worldwide palm trees pest. This insect is a quarantined pest, accidentally introduced in Sicily in 2005. The pest is killed by Steirnenema carpocapsae, but nematodes are unable to reproduce in the RPW larvae. This research try to understand the reasons of the inability of S. carpocapsae to complete its life cycle in the host comparing what happens in one of the most suitable host, the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (Lepidoptera: …
Steiner systems and configurations of points
2020
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to make a connection between design theory and algebraic geometry/commutative algebra. In particular, given any Steiner SystemS(t, n, v) we associate two ideals, in a suitable polynomial ring, defining a Steiner configuration of points and its Complement. We focus on the latter, studying its homological invariants, such as Hilbert Function and Betti numbers. We also study symbolic and regular powers associated to the ideal defining a Complement of a Steiner configuration of points, finding its Waldschmidt constant, regularity, bounds on its resurgence and asymptotic resurgence. We also compute the parameters of linear codes associated to any Steiner configur…
